SATURDAY COMPETITIONS

Competition guidelines

The Ice Enduro is a climbing marathon that takes place all day on 22 reserved routes. The difficulty varies from M7 to M8/WI6.

The competition is mixed and in teams (2 climbers) but ranking is individual. Each participant must climb the greatest number of routes in a determined time. Each route climbed earns a number of points based on the difficulty of the route, its length and its level of commitment. The climber with the most points earned in the given time will be considered as the winner of the competition.

The competition is divided into 2 parts: a first part on one side of the river and another on the other side of the river. The teams will therefore start on either side of the river and switch sides halfway through the competition. During the first part, which lasts 3 hours, each climber of each team will climb for 1 hour 30 minutes and will belay his or her partner for 1 hour 30 minutes. After 3 hours, the teams will change side of the river and climb again 3 hours (1 hour 30 minutes per climber). Each participant must therefore climb for 1 hour 30 minutes and belay his or her partner for 1 hour 30 minutes during both parts. The choice of routes to climb is up to the teams.

Each ascent will be validated by a judge of the competition. The judges will be presented to the competitors during the pre-competition meeting. During this meeting, the rules of the competition will be repeated to the participants.

Rules

For a route to be considered as climbed, the climber must have climbed it in lead, from the ground to the anchor, and this without any falls or takes.

If a climber falls on a route, they can start again from the bottom of the wall on condition that no other team is waiting to climb the same route.

A climber cannot climb the same route more than once. If a climber is climbing in the final moments of the competition, no points will be awarded for this ascent.

IMPORTANT

Each climber is responsible for their safety and the safety of their partner. The organizers of Festiglace, the sponsors as well as the volunteers are not responsible of the risks that the climbers take during the competitions and the consequences that may come. Climb strong and wisely!
