Jeff Mercier

Jeff Mercier, a leading figure in ice and mixed climbing, is much more than just an exceptional mountaineer. As a mountain guide and rescue instructor for the PGHM, he has achieved some memorable feats, including the first spurless ascent of Jedi Mind Tricks (M14), a unique feat in the world of mixed climbing.

His impressive list of achievements includes everything from an 8a onsight in the south of France to the epic ice conquest of La Lyre (WI6) and A3+ artificial climbing routes. Jeff has also distinguished himself in the competitive arena, winning the Festival de glace d’Ouray in 2008 and racking up several podium finishes in ice climbing, mixed climbing and dry tooling events around the world.

His career path reflects a constant evolution, from rock climbing to diversification into ice climbing and dry tooling. By becoming a mountain guide at the age of 30, Jeff consolidated his passion. Today, with his sights set on mountaineering, he pushes the limits in the Alps, using dry tooling techniques to climb routes once considered to require artificial climbing.

Jeff Mercier embodies a bold evolution in the demanding world of mountaineering, marking his journey with successes that transcend the boundaries of the discipline.
